WISE-UP TO CLIMATE
Client: IUCN
IUCN (the International Union for Conservation of Nature – https://www.iucn.org/) is an international organization working in the field of nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. It is involved in data gathering and analysis, research, field projects, advocacy, and education. The home quarters are located in Gland, Switzerland.
2017
In 2017, we were commissioned to produce two big and complex visual panels regarding the water yearly usage of the rural communities of Fare Fare (Gur), inhabiting the region of northern Ghana.
Here, the natural water infrastructure of the White Volta River provides Arigu, Bisigu, and Pwalugu communities with baseflow and natural irrigation by seasonal flooding, and various livelihood activities are possible thanks to it. A multi-purpose dam, proposed to be soon built in the site, will impact natural infrastructure benefits downstream. The long research project run by IUCN is intended to precisely overcast and estimate whether this could be positive or negative, and how far the local communities will gain prosperity, depending on which dam operating rules would be adopted.
The two infographics shown here were discussed and planned by us during the spring of 2017, and have been presented as part of a comprehensive report published in the late fall of the same year.
